Good Work for all

Good Work for all

A look at the economies of many countries and states in India shows high levels of Unemployment. At the same time, there are many young people who are employable, trainable, and who can be developed to respond to the many needs that need wholehearted service. All the pieces of the larger Jigsaw puzzle of Joy, Peace and Abundance for all are present. The pieces are not fully connected though.

The Vision of this group of Awaken-I is to connect all these relevant pieces together so that the Vision of “Good Work for all” is manifested. “Good Work” is work that is aligned with a person’s natural calling, work that is based on the gifts and needs of the local community and work which is respectful of the environment.

Good Work will be soulful, nourishing and joyous to oneself, community and the environment, reaping a harvest of a sustainable livelihood in the community context.

“Good work for all” is a project on the Awaken I platform of the Pragati Foundation. It is aimed at generating good work for all.

This group aims at mobilizing a new paradigm and process of work which is soulful, innovative, uses local resources and is in harmony with the environment. All the knowledge and experience that is needed to create new approaches to “Good Work” exists on the planet. These resources are, however, not connected to each other or to the people who can use them.

The key problems that this project addresses are:

  • Unemployment (and its attending ills like low self esteem, terrorism, drug addiction etc.);
  • Soulless and Boring work (work which does not use ones natural talents and aptitudes, and which is often far away from ones local community);
  • The erosion of local economies and local crafts and cultures due to rampant globalization of work;
  • Environmentally non sustainable and unsafe work
  • Breakdown of community and erosion of the cohesion between diverse people.
